Lancaster City district is situated in the very heart of one of the most beautiful and geographically diverse parts of the country. Our district combines the urban centres of Lancaster, Carnforth and Morecambe, each with their own distinctive characters. Our region includes areas of outstanding natural beauty as well as encompassing the new and exciting Eden of the North. The district is culturally and historically rich, with a wealth of untapped potential, and two successful universities within its boundaries. We want to create social value through a programme of sustained community wealth building against the backdrop of countless competing pressures including climate change and ever-increasing financial constraints.
We now need an innovative and strategic leader who will harness and engage the skills and experience of our people to implement our programme of change and become a key figure in our progressive leadership team. The role is multidimensional requiring significant skill in blending our key resources, people and finances to create better opportunity and enable all our residents and stakeholders through an improved, environment wellbeing, economy and neighbourhoods.
Applying your core financial and commercial expertise in a much broader role, you will be able to interpret our strategic aspirations translating them into effective, innovative actions across a range of activity, with a collaborative, collegiate and partnering approach demonstrating an inclusive and corporate leadership style in a complex organisational setting.
We have an exciting and ambitious agenda; come and join us to enjoy playing a key role achieving success for our residents.

Earlier this year Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
