HR Assistant
An opportunity has arisen for an individual, with an interest in HR administration, to join the busy HR team at Lancaster City Council.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive HR administration service to managers and staff across the Council and will be the first point of contact for internal and external enquiries. The post holder will carry out the full range of HR administration duties; from recruitment and selection to the end of the employment relationship.
In order to succeed in this role you need to be a clear thinker with natural aptitude for balancing the number of competing priorities that will occur each day. You need to be motivated and enthusiastic, with a commitment to providing a quality customer focused service. You should have a flair for organisation, with a good eye for detail and high personal standards to ensure that all your work is completed accurately. You will need to be a skilled communicator who is able to disseminate information clearly and who has the confidence to work with colleagues at all levels of the organisation. You must have excellent IT skills, in particular Microsoft Office.
Whilst previous knowledge of HR administration would be a distinct advantage, it is not as important as the ability to demonstrate that you have the necessary skills to succeed in the role.
Key responsibilities for the post holder will be;
- Provide an accurate, efficient and effective ongoing provision of an HR employee relations and administrative service to internal and external customers.
- Administer the Council’s recruitment and selection procedures to ensure an efficient and customer focused service.
- Act as first point of contact for all HR services queries from managers and employees.
Reporting to the HR Services Case & Admin Lead, the HR Assistant will work alongside the HR team to ensure seamless delivery of all HR strategies.
The post holder will also be involved in organising corporate employee engagement events and representing the Council at external events such as career fairs and open days.
The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, working Monday to Friday. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. This post is based at Lancaster Town Hall.
Earlier this year Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
