Facilities Support Officer x 2
Many of Lancaster’s most prominent and beautiful historic listed buildings are owned and managed by Lancaster City Council, including the Lancaster and Morecambe Town Halls and The Storey. Within the Facilities Management Team, the Facilities Support Officers are at the front line of caring for these buildings and their occupants; taking care of security, maintenance, health and safety, meeting set up and facilitation of large functions or events.
As a Facilities Support Officer you will assist in all of these aspects as well as being a key holder for our main sites. Full training will be given, and no specific previous experience is required, although experience in customer facing roles, caretaking or maintenance would be beneficial. You will need to be highly motivated, enthusiastic, and incredibly reliable. The role involves a high degree of contact with members of the public, staff, Councillors, tenants, and other building users. Promoting positive relationships with these users is an integral part of the role.
These posts are permanent, working 30 hours per week, working five out of seven days, arranged on a weekly basis depending on the needs of the Service. This will include evenings and weekends and Bank Holidays. You may also be required to work additional hours on occasion.
The post holder will also participate in the City Councils out of hour’s standby scheme for emergency call outs to the buildings, for which there is an additional payment.
The post holder may be subject to a criminal record check through Disclosure Scotland to enable them to become a Personal Licence Holder for the sale/supply of alcohol.
Lancaster City Council has unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
We are a Forces Friendly employer, and an Armed Forces Covenant committed organisation. We welcome applications from defence reserves and other members of our armed forces community.
Excellent benefits include: A Local Government Pension Scheme (the Council makes a 15.5% contribution). Discounted gym membership and discount on days out, activities and retail.
