We are recognised throughout the district for our professional, passionate and forward-thinking dog warden service. The team is also responsible for the licensing of animal activities such as pet shops and dog breeding.
 
We are seeking a motivated, dependable and friendly individual to support our team. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving standards of compliance for the good of communities and the environment. To patrol and deliver a personal caseload, providing professional assessment and problem solving, advice and persuasion, investigation and enforcement.
 
You will provide a high standard of customer service and networking with colleagues and partner agencies, aiming to make a positive difference in our communities and to promote public reassurance.
 
In this post no two days are the same, you will be a strong character who is prepared for anything. The work can be demanding, emotional and very rewarding.
 
Experience in dealing with members of the public and confidence when dealing with dogs are essential for this post. Knowledge of Animal Licensing legislation would also be desirable, but we will provide you with full training. A full current UK driving licence is essential to the role as it is a peripatetic post requiring frequent travel and lone working. You will also require excellent customer service and communication skills.
 
This post is based at Morecambe Town Hall and the hours of work are 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. Staff cover is required each working day during office hours, and availability for ad-hoc operational requirements necessitating work in the early morning, evening and occasionally at weekends or on bank holidays.
 
The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Scheme.
