Do you want to protect the district and help save lives?

Do you want to make a difference to our community?

Do you want to help reduce Covid-19 transmission?

If so, then we have some great opportunities to join us in our fight against Covid-19.

SMART testing of asymptomatic COVID-19 cases plays a fundamental part in stopping the spread of COVID-19. We are launching testing for those who are asymptomatic to help identify and isolate individuals who have COVID-19, but do not have symptoms and may inadvertently spread the virus to others.

We are looking for 2 dedicated individuals to fill the roles of Site Operative at our Covid Testing Sites.  You will need excellent customer service skills and be passionate about helping in the fight against COVID-19.

You will be responsible for supporting individuals through the end-to-end testing experience and supporting wider site operations. Key activities include managing social distancing through orderly queuing, supporting customers through registration, providing verbal guidance on the testing process and regular cleaning of the site. You will also support with the preparation and analysis of test samples, and the recording of results.

The safety of the workforce and customers is the utmost priority for all testing operations; full PPE and strict infection prevention and control measures will be in place to ensure a safe working environment at all times, as well as all of the relevant training for the roles.

These roles are temporary for 6 months. The hours of work are up to 37 hours. There are fixed term or casual contracts available. The roles are based at Morecambe Town Hall but may be mobile around the district.

A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder may be required to travel around the district. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability.

For internal applicants, this role can be a secondment opportunity. When these roles come to an end, any successful internal applicants will return to their substantive roles. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to

Lancaster City Council has unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.

We are a Forces Friendly employer, and an Armed Forces Covenant committed organisation. We welcome applications from defence reserves and other members of our armed forces community.

Excellent benefits include: A Local Government Pension Scheme (the Council makes a 15.5% contribution). Discounted gym membership and discount on days out, activities and retail.

Interview date: Monday, 19th April 2021
