The Role

An opportunity is available for a multi-skilled, experienced, and creative Marketing professional to join the council’s busy Marketing team, as a Marketing Officer dedicated to delivering original and strategic marketing support to a range of commercial portfolios owned by Lancaster City Council.

This role is a fixed term contract until the end of March 2025.

With experience in commercial marketing, you will be expected to conceptualise and deliver bespoke multi-channelled marketing and communications campaigns aimed to increase income generating opportunities, as well as promote the portfolios to key target audiences locally, regionally and nationally.

Knowledge, experience and confidence in utilising all areas of the marketing mix, as well as being creatively minded, is an essential part of this role. Prior experience working in the leisure and/or arts sectors would be beneficial, but not essential.

A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to travel across the district to capture marketing material collateral and attend off site meetings.

As a result you will be required to sign up to the authorised external DVLA driving licence validation organisation that we use to manage and monitor our employees driving licence data. Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability.

This post is temporary until end of March 2025. The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, working Monday – Friday. This post is subject to hybrid working arrangements, based at Lancaster Town Hall with home based and agile working options available.

The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.

For internal applicants, this role will be considered for a secondment opportunity. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to. When this role comes to an end, the successful internal applicant will return to their substantive role.
