Due to the needs of the Shared Service, an opportunity has arisen to recruit to a Revenues Officer post in the Council Tax team on a full-time permanent basis, based at Lancaster.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person who can manage their own workload, to join this small but successful team.  Excellent communication skills and a customer care attitude are considered a necessity for this post.

This is a high performing team, whose responsibility for the collection of income promptly and efficiently is crucial to the Council, given the current Government funding arrangements and budgetary pressures.

Duties include:

  • Dealing with customer enquiries, correspondence and information from other sources in relation to the administration, billing and collection of Council Tax.  
  • Work as part of a team administering billing and recovery procedures and attend Magistrates Court as required.
  • To maintain an accurate online computer database, including the verification and processing of applications for exemptions / discount and disregards for Council Tax.
