The post holder will be responsible for the day to day running of a City Council independent living scheme in the Lancaster and Morecambe district. 

All of our properties in independent living are supported by a Lifeline service for extra reassurance 24 hours a day.

You must be capable of demonstrating a sincere commitment to the support of older adults, possess good organisational and social skills and be of a calm, patient disposition with the ability to respond quickly and efficiently in an emergency situation, whilst under pressure.

You will need to have both good written and verbal communication skills and be able to work well with other professionals and all members of the public. You should be proficient in working with technology and IT.

An understanding of community care and the ability to deal with any situation, as and when it arises, in an efficient and effective way, is essential.

An understanding of housing issues and welfare benefits would be an advantage. 

When required, you may be expected to provide cover for any of our other Lancaster City Council independent living schemes within the District.

Lancaster City Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.

A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to provide cover across the district.

Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to a disability. 

The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, working Monday to Friday. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme, which applies to this post.

The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
