The Repairs and Maintenance Department has the responsibility for carrying out responsive and planned maintenance works and Void properties to Lancaster City Council’s housing and non-housing stock. In order to improve service levels, meet performance targets and increase the working base, the Section is recruiting for 1 skilled Plasterer/ Tiler. 

All employees will need to be flexible and will be reallocated works according to the volume of work in each work stream and will be asked to multiskill to complete a right first-time appointment.  

The successful candidate will demonstrate good working skills and techniques with an ability to work on their own initiative with minimum supervision. They will ensure their work continues to meet the current high levels of customer satisfaction. With an understanding and experience of working with the Health and Safety at Work Act they will ensure safe-working practices are applied. 

You must be able to demonstrate good working skills and techniques and an ability to work from home on your own initiative and with minimum supervision. 

A full current UK driving licence is also essential for this post, Reasonable adjustments can be made for those who are unable to drive due to disability. The post holder will be required to work a transient role around the district, as they will have to travel between locations and travel within the Councils designated area. 

This post is 37 hours per week (Monday to Thursday, 8.00am to 4.30pm, and Friday, 8.00am to 3.30pm), however you are required for operational purposes to work 39 hours per week; as this is in excess of the standard 37-hour week, you will accrue 1 days leave for every 20 days worked.  

Earlier this year Lancaster City Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and will therefore work towards reducing carbon emissions to net-zero by 2030. As part of this role, you will be expected to participate and work towards reducing carbon emissions.
