Market Assistant
Lancaster City Council are pleased to offer the opportunity to appoint a Market Assistant based at the Festival Market in Morecambe. The post holder will assist in the day to day running of the three markets:
- Morecambe Festival Market
- The Charter Market, Lancaster
- The Assembly Rooms Emporium, Lancaster
You need to be a good communicator who is able to understand and work with the market traders to make the markets a success. You must be a team worker and will have manual handling skills, experience of security procedures and the ability to undertake basic maintenance and cleaning functions. Experience of working with minimum supervision and dealing with unexpected circumstances is essential. It is also helpful that you have basic ICT skills, a flexible approach to work and a good awareness of Health and Safety.
This post is temporary for 12 months. The hours of work are 37 hours per week, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. This post is primarily based at the Festival Market in Morecambe, however work from other locations across the district will be required.
You may be required to undertake Standby duties to cover out of hours work.
